Demonology Warlock: Patch 12.0.7 Guide

The Meta Context

In Patch 12.0.7 of the Midnight expansion, Demonology Warlock continues to reign as an exceptional option for sustained single-target priority damage and heavily clustered AoE profiles. The specialization excels at weaving together efficient Soul Shard generation, Wild Imps accumulation, and devastating Tyrant summon windows. The competitive meta sees a clear distinction between its Hero Talent branches: Diabolist offers massive, explosive high-burst demon summons that shock high-priority targets, while Soul Harvester provides more streamlined, passive executes and continuous dark damage amplification. Backed by mandatory utility like Demonic Gateway, Healthstones, and Soulstones, Demonology secures an elite status within high-tier raiding squads and Mythic+ groups.

Stat Priority

Carefully managing your secondary stat allocation ensures your minion loops cycle seamlessly without bottlenecks in Soul Shard conversion.

Core Rotation

Demonology gameplay relies on generating Soul Shards through Shadow Bolt and Demonbolt, building up clusters of Wild Imps, and imploding or converting them into empowered damage waves.

Single-Target Combat Priority

  1. Cast Grimoire: Felguard (if talented) strictly on cooldown to generate passive primary threat and burst output.
  2. Generate Soul Shards using Shadow Bolt or instant-cast Demonbolt procs when available.
  3. Spend Soul Shards by casting Hand of Gul'dan at 3 or more shards to maximize Wild Imp summons.
  4. Cast Call Dreadstalkers strictly on cooldown to keep high-priority single-target pressure active.
  5. Activate your major cooldown via Summon Demonic Tyrant when your minion count (Dreadstalkers and active Wild Imps) reaches its peak to extend their lifespan and amplify their damage.
  6. Weave in Power Siphon when low on procs to instantly sacrifice two imps for empowered Demonbolt charges.
  7. Use Shadow Bolt as your default resource filler cast when shard counts are empty.

AoE & Multi-Target Priority

  1. Cast Hand of Gul'dan rapidly to construct a heavy army of Wild Imps across the pulling sequence.
  2. Deploy Call Dreadstalkers on cooldown to exploit multi-target cleave damage traits.
  3. Cast Bilescourge Bombers or launch Guillotine (if talented) directly into the center of the enemy cluster.
  4. Activate Demonic Strength to cause your primary Felguard to execute an explosive Felstorm cleave.
  5. Execute Implosion right before your oldest wave of Wild Imps runs out of energy, detonating them into the middle of the group for massive AoE fire damage.
  6. Maintain shard generation loops to ensure consistent Implosion chains on surviving packs.

Consumables & Enhancements

Ensure your Warlock achieves peak DPS benchmarks by fully equipping these endgame consumables and item augmentations.
